Well, I thought that when I found out I was pregnant that I would post every week, but I guess I am realizing that would be alot of posts and well, no one really cares or really even reads this...so why bother? It's okay though because I do this for me, so that I have a record of how I was feeling during my first pregnancy.
So, I am really feeling pretty good these days. I am back to exercising four to five days a week which is nice. The morning nausea/vomitting is a thing of the past! Thank God. I went to the Doctor at the beginning of the month and got to hear the heartbeat with a dopplar which was really exciting.
I started my registry at Target. I was going to do Babies R us, but when I saw the prices, I decided that Target would be the economical choice. So my mom and I went and looked and I was able to hopefully register for all I need. Not like I really know what I need... I am still going to register at Walmart for some things as well. Man, talk about overwhelming.
You know, people amaze me. I can't begin to tell you some of the things that people have said to me since I have been pregnant that I have been like....wow, I can't believe that you just said that. For example:
"I am sure your belly has always been that fat. You are just sticking it out because you are pregnant."
"Your butt is getting bigger."
"Don't mind her, it's just her hormones."
"I hear you are knocked up."
"I gained 88 pounds with my first kid and I still have forty of it and she is fifteen!"
"You wait until your hair falls out!"
I will tell you what, I can not believe that people say the things they do. And by the way, I am not "KNOCKED UP." Knocked up would be a teenager sleeping with a married man or something like that. I am a married woman who is pregnant with her first much wanted child. And furthermore, my butt is not bigger. I can still put on my size 5-6 jeans. They fit my butt. It's my belly they no longer cover. And the hormone comment, I don't even want to go there. I know my hormones are wacky. I can't help that and certainly saying it all the time doesn't make me feel any better. I am not mad about these things that were said because I know that people in general lack sensitivity about how a pregnant woman may feel, but man sometimes I just sigh and wonder how people have the nerve to say the things they do

You look good girl! Some people can be ignorant. The sad part is they don't even realize it. My hubby would tell me even when I was hormonal, eating like a pig and when my maternity clothes became too tight because my butt was soo large that I was the most beautiful woman on the planet because I was his wife and I was carrying our child.
Amanda, every pregancy is different, so out of 100 comments/advice only one may apply to you. Just enjoy this time and don't worry about those negitive comments. Amanda C said it well, you are beautiful!! PS. did you know your teeth will grow twice their size....hehehe.
I can tell you're excited, and probably already have everyone's input, so mine probably won't matter much. Diapers. I've always been on the low income side of things, so when I found out I was going to be a daddy, I bought a pack of diapers every payday. It made things so much easier the first year, and allowed me to buy the goofy fun stuff later.
Andy, I really do appreciate your advice. I think the financial end of having a child is always a little stressful. After all, having not had a child before, I don't know what to expect. It's awesome that you as a dad were thinking ahead about things! My husband and I have done alot of planning ahead too! Thanks for your advice!!!
Amanda and Janette, you girls rock :)
Amanda, your little tummy is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!
Janette is sooo right about every pregnancy being different, and there are so many 'old wives' tales out there, too. When I was pregnant with my first baby, I worked, and one day I was reaching up to get something and a co-worker came RUNNING over to me screaming "NO!! You'll strangle the baby!" And she proceeded to tell me if I reached up high while pregnant, the umbilical cord would strangle the baby. Get ready for those type of comments too!!
Thanks Margie. It's good to hear that the crazy comments happen to everyone!!!!
Amanda ~
First of all, people obviously ARE reading your posts, and we are so happy about your pregnancy! This baby will be blessed.
Try to ignore the comments--people can be thoughtless, and frankly, stupid sometimes. Don't even listen to childbirth stories. I had back labor, which is supposed to be painful, and it just wasn't that bad. I loved my pregnancy, and even refused to wear maternity clothes as long as sweats, etc. would fit over my belly! I loved how I looked, and I love how you look, too.
I have enjoyed every one of Morgan's 21 years so far (don't listen to the "terrible two's" and "wait until s/he hits THIS stage" stories, either. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
Mindy, you are so nice and thanks for the words of encouragement. It's nice to hear someone with something good to say about pregnancy! I am really starting to enjoy my pregnancy. I am feeling good and really getting excited for the future!
Some of my favorite comments that I got:
"Oh you are definitely having a boy, just look at how big your butt is."
"So, how much weight have you gained"
"So, how much weight have you gained THIS time"
"You are pregnant with wich number of kids?"
"Aren't you a bit young to be having kids?" (I was 23 at the time)
Everyone will tell you all their old wives tales and birthing stories as well. I do hope you post some of those for us to read too!
PLEASE give us more updates on the growing belly, they're sexy! MEOW!
